Training camp 01/15/2010
While there is great mountain bike riding in Park city (several miles of groomed trails and hard packed single track) warmer weather is calling. So if the weather holds there will be a mountain bike training camp in St. George Jan 29-30. We will hit lots of trails and there will be several groups riding together so no one will be left alone. If you are interested in riding with us shoot us an email at peakfitnessandperformance.com and we will get you some additional info. Wheeler Farm Halloween Cross Race. 11/02/2009
Saturday brought warm weather and sun to a fun extra twisty wheeler farm race course. Again Peak was well represented. Stan and Calvin hit the 55+ and the C's and showed signs of improvement. Stan gave clipless a go for the first time and closed in on some of the C's. Calvin mixed it up the whole race with several other riders battling it out for position the whole race. Elizabeth attacked the challenging course with the other women B's and really powered the straight aways and run up. Her bike handling continues to improve with each race and soon she will be ripping the corners. ![]() Duff battling on the hurdles Duff had a great race in the mens 35+ B's. He used his technical skills to push the pace and keep it a 2 person battle for the win. He pushed hard and looked strong throughout the race and was just nipped at the line coming in 2nd. It was a great race to watch and he keeps getting stronger. Karl showed up dressed for success with his cape and tri suit. He looked strong but once again ended up with a flat tire that put him out of contention. He got a new wheel and chased hard. Next week he will be mixing it up with the tri group. ![]() bopeep can run! Aaron and Chad put on some costumes for the A race. Chad looked stellar as little bopeep and Aaron stole his son's batman cape and lamb ears to be "bat-lamb." Aaron had a good start but dropped his chain on the first tight single track. He had to put it back on and let the entire field pass by before rejoining the race. After being stuck in last place for a while he was able to start chasing. He rode hard and chased hard passing several riders and finishing 3 secs behind a group of four. Chad had a good start but had to stop for air in his rear tire and tweaked his hamstring on the run up, forcing him to spin for the rest of the race. He was the best looking A racer. All in all it was a great course, perfect weather, and good racing. Next week Weber. Draper cross race 10/28/2009
Peak Fitness & Performance had 7 athletes toeing up to the line last Sat at a technical Draper cross course. Stan and Calvin raced 55+ and C divisions and had a great race. Stan said after the race "that was an eye opener!" He kept it strong and steady beating 2 racers and riding with last years 60+ national cross champion (who caught 2/3rds of the men's b field, with a 30 sec deficit). Calvin showed his ripping descending skills making up time on riders in the technical sections. In the women's Bs Elizabeth continues to improve and this race was no different. Her climbing abilities kept her in the race and closing in on the leaders. She finished 10th out of 18 fast women. Karl had a great race and with every lap passed riders like they were standing still. Unfortunately he fell victim to the cross gods and suffered 2 flats ending his race. With a good start and better luck he will be mixing it with the leaders. Duff continues to dominate the 35+ B's. Even with a sore back from a wreck earlier in the week he placed 3rd out of 27 fast riders. He will be a tough wheel to hold when the mud, rain, and snow flies. Aaron and Chad lined up with the other Utah cross pros just as the clouds let loose dropping rain and the temp for the 60 min race. Even with slick descents and corners both managed to stay up right and ride down riders finishing 11th and 12th out of 22 riders. This Sat is Wheeler farm and hopefully we will have photos. Hope for more mud! First Post! 05/29/2009
